Part 58 - How to Draft a Peter Pan Collar

This video introduces a new pattern drafting series focused on creating various collar types, starting with a flat or Peter Pan collar.

Izzy explains that a combined waist dart block will be used to simplify the process, focusing on the collar and front opening. She advises viewers to refer to video 45 if they need help adapting their block.

The tutorial begins by overlapping the back bodice with the front to establish the collar shape and depth. Izzy demonstrates how to draw the upper and under collars, with the under collar being slightly smaller for a better fit.

Next, Izzy shows how to create the front button placket, marking button and buttonhole positions. She then adds a facing to the front and back for a clean finish.

The video progresses with instructions on creating pattern pieces for the collars, front bodice, and facings, including adding seam allowances and annotations.

The tutorial progresses with instructions on sewing the darts, attaching the facing pieces, sewing the collar pieces, attaching the collar to the bodice, and attaching the facing to the bodice. Izzy guides viewers through each step, including trimming and notching the seams.

Izzy concludes by showcasing the finished Peter Pan collar top, highlighting its simplicity and the impact of collar depth on the overall look.
