Part 50 - How to Draft Asymmetrical Darts

In this video, Izzy demonstrates how to create a complex dart manipulation on a front bodice block, resulting in an asymmetric look. This involves rotating and moving bust and waist darts to achieve a unique design.

Izzy begins by outlining the tools required and emphasizes that this video focuses on a more complex dart manipulation technique. She instructs viewers to trace two front bodice blocks and tape them together.

The video then shows how to close the waist darts and transfer their volume to the bust darts. Izzy guides viewers through finding the midpoint of the waist darts, drawing lines to the Apex, and cutting out the dart volume.

Next, Izzy demonstrates how to create a new dart from the side seam to the Apex, effectively transferring the bust dart volume to this new location. She then shows how to find the center of this new dart and offset the point by 2cm from the Apex for a smoother curve.

The video then progresses to show how to close the remaining bust dart and open a new dart along a different line, further enhancing the asymmetric design. Izzy guides viewers through cutting along the new dart line, closing the bust dart, and creating a new dart with a 2cm offset from the Apex.

Izzy then guides viewers through creating the pattern piece, including adding seam allowances to the shoulder, neckline, side seams, and darts. She emphasizes the importance of accurately transferring dart lines and creating smooth curves. She also shows how to annotate the pattern piece with grain lines, Apex markings, and pattern name.
