Part 27 – Bodice Block Alterations – Back Neck Too Tight

In this video, Izzy addresses how to adjust a bodice block when the back neckline feels too tight. Izzy clarifies that this specific issue presents as drag lines originating solely from the back neck area, distinguishing it from an overall tight neckline.

She explains that to resolve this, the back neckline needs to be widened. Izzy uses a demonstration of widening the neck by 2cm, though she emphasises that viewers should use their own measurements from their toile fitting.

The video then shows how to mark the desired widening amount at the back neck point of the shoulder seam. Izzy then demonstrates how to redraw the back neckline curve to this new point, effectively increasing the neckline circumference.

However, widening the neckline shortens the shoulder seam, so Izzy also shows how to extend the shoulder seam by the same amount, ensuring it will still align with the front bodice. Finally, she demonstrates how to redraw the armscye curve to seamlessly connect with the extended shoulder seam.
