Bring your own sewing project(s) and receive expert guidance and advice from Izzy and Sophie who will be on hand to help for the weekend. We bring expert fitting and pattern drafting experience to the sewing room, helping you refine the fit of your garments.
Izzy’s experience as a pattern designer means that she loves to help people achieve an incredible fit when sewing their garments, which can be a challenging thing to do alone! So why not use the weekend to bring some garments you’ve previously sewn and refine the fit with Izzy? Or perhaps you want to finally learn how to sew a lined coat, or a pair of denim jeans? Or maybe you want to sew your very first project with us? Or perhaps you just want some uninterrupted sewing time to update your wardrobe and be inspired? Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, we are here to support you every step of the way.
Around two weeks prior to the retreat each guest is invited to have an individual 20 minute video call with Izzy to discuss what project(s) you are thinking of bringing so she can prepare for your time together.
You will be provided with a dedicated sewing space for the entire weekend with a large table to ensure ample space for your projects to be laid out and sewn. The sewing room is bright and airy with plenty natural daylight and views of the surrounding countryside.
There will also be two overlockers, irons and a cutting space available for use, as well as all the sewing tools you might need to complete your project.
We want you to feel comfortable while sewing so we encourage you to bring your own sewing machine. However, if you would prefer to use one of our sewing machines (Janome M100QDC) then please let us know on your booking form.
The retreat is limited to 14 people. Izzy will attend and support the retreat for the entire duration of the weekend. Sophie will join if there are more than 8 people booking onto the retreat, to ensure everyone has plenty of bespoke support throughout the weekend.

Prior to the sewing retreat you are offered a complimentary 20min zoom call with Izzy (your sewing instructor for the weekend) to discuss your project and any specific goals you'd like to achieve.
Saturday
Arrive at 10am with welcome drinks and biscuits.
10-12:30pm Sewing time, supported by sewing instructors.
12:30pm Enjoy lunch in the dining room.
1:30-5pm Sewing time, supported by sewing instructors.
5-7pm Free time. Enjoy a stroll around the idyllic Ullswater Lake.
7pm meet for pre-drinks in the bar.
7:30pm Evening meal in the hotel’s stunning Orangery Restaurant. An allocation of £42.00 per person is included for food.
Sunday
7-9:30 Breakfast in the dinning room overlooking Ullswater Lake.
9:30-12:30pm Sewing time, supported by sewing instructors.
12:30pm Light lunch in the dining room.
1:30-4:30pm Sewing time, supported by sewing instructors. Unlimited refreshments are available, with an afternoon break for cake and chatter.
4:30pm Return home, full of sewing inspiration!

This is an all-inclusive sewing retreat. Overnight accommodation, refreshments and meals are included, along with all of your sewing time in the sewing room.
Overnight stay on Saturday.
Refreshments, lunch, dinner (an allocation of £42.00 per person is included, or a 3 course set menu, depending on numbers), bed and breakfast included.
Complimentary IzzoSew Studio sewing pattern of your choice on arrival.

The only items that are excluded are drinks with the evening meal, and any additional room service.

The retreat includes an overnight stay in a standard double room in this beautiful venue, with a three-course evening meal in the hotel’s award winning Lake View Restaurant and breakfast in the morning before the second day of sewing begins.
An extra nights' accommodation (bed and breakfast) on the Friday or Sunday can be added on for an additional £210 per night if required (subject to availability). Just let us know on your booking form if you would like to include this.

Guests will receive:
Tea and coffee throughout each day, with biscuits in the morning and cream scones in the afternoon.
A two course buffet lunch each day.
You can also choose to enjoy your coffee breaks in one of the many hotel lounges or outside in 15 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with sweeping lawns down to the Ullswater lakeshore.
A delicious evening meal in the hotel’s stunning restaurant (an allocation of £42.00 per person is included, or a set 3 course meal depending on numbers) and breakfast the following morning before the second day of sewing begins. Please note that drinks are not included.

The sewing room is set up with everything you need to successfully sew your project. Two overlockers, irons, scissors, cutting mats, notions and sewing machines are all available to use.
You will want to bring the following:
· Your sewing project (fabric, notions, thread, pattern etc). If you’re a complete beginner, we can discuss a suitable project for you to sew and where to source your fabric during your zoom call, or via email prior to the retreat, so that you can arrive ready to start your sewing journey.
· Your own sewing machine and tools if you'd like to. This is optional, although we find most people prefer to bring their own tools and machines. Sewing machines can be provided on request (just let us know on the booking form).

Izzy will be on hand to help throughout the weekend. Sophie joins the retreats if there are more than eight guests, in order to ensure everyone receives plenty of bespoke sewing support.
Izzy is a pattern designer and owner of IzzoSew Studio. Sophie is a qualified teacher and studied fashion design at university. They are both encouraging, friendly and love to help with fit, technique and style decisions.

A full weekend ticket is available to book on our website, paid in full, which includes everything listed above. 2 day weekend tickets are £620.
Weekend day pass options
A weekend day ticket is available. This allows you access to the retreat between 10-5pm on Saturday and 9:30-4:30pm on Sunday. The ticket includes everything listed above except dinner, bed and breakfast.
For a 2 day sewing retreat day pass, just enter 2-DAY-TICKET-LAKES into the discount box when checking out, which will reduce the ticket to £390.
Payment Plan
Should you prefer to pay for the sewing retreat in monthly instalments, this can be arranged. A 15% deposit is required on booking the retreat. Select the retreat date and add it to your cart. Enter the discount code PAYMENTPLAN15 at checkout, which enables you to make the 15% ticket deposit. Once we receive your booking, we will email you with a monthly instalment schedule which will be calculated based on the number of months until the retreat. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for further details.
Location and Directions
The sewing retreat is held in the 4* Inn on the Lake Hotel, Ullswater, Glenridding, Penrith CA11 0PE. There is free parking available on-site and the venue is fully accessible.

By Car
The hotel is just 20minutes drive from the M6. Take junction 40 and then following the A66, west towards Keswick. At the first roundabout, by the Rheged Discovery Centre; take the A592 towards Ullswater, turn right when you get to the lake and then follow the shoreline of Ullswater to Glenridding. The hotel is on your left in the middle of the village.
By Train
The nearest train station is Penrith (North Lakes). Penrith is on the main North West line with direct routes to London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. For transfers from Penrith station the hotel recommends M & A private hire on 01768482372.
